We were a group of local stroke survivors and carers who
campaigned for better stroke services in Kingston upon Hull and the East
Riding. We also provide information and support to people who have had a
stroke, and to their carers.
The Hull and East Riding Stroke Survivors' Forum, was renamed Strokewatch,
was an offshoot of the OK Stroke Club. Through campaigning and a petition to
Parliament the group succeeded in raising awareness about the urgent need to
improve stroke services in this area. It was run entirely by local stroke
survivors and carers and was regularly consulted by service providers and
other agencies on the planning, monitoring and further development of
services.
What we're up to
Hull and East Riding Stroke Survivors obtained Lottery
funding to set up a website and compile an information booklet, and from
Hull Community Investment Fund for a quarterly Newsletter.
Strokewatch
Kept a close eye on how the
stroke service was developing.
Strokewatch
Heard from many stroke patients and carers about their
experiences. We wanted to make sure that their stories can contribute to the
improvement of the stroke service.
We undertook to follow up all queries, comments and concerns with the
appropriate person in the stroke service.
